Has anyone found a solution to code P0404 and loss of power?

code p0404  This code points to either carbon buildup or a bad EGR valve However that doesn't rule out the following: Open or short in the 5 Volt reference circuit  This code tells us that the PCM detected the EGR valve is not responding to the commanded position within a given amount of time

The fault code says P0404, EGR Control, Circuit Range Performance I checked the connections to the valve and cleared the fault, it has not i replaced egr at first it worked fine for a while until car started giving the code p0404 again and the engine went into safe mode Tester
